What is INDY NXT by Firestone?
INDY NXT is the developmental series for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. INDYCAR is also the sanctioning body for INDY NXT. INDY NXT often races at the same tracks during the same weekends as INDYCAR.
What is the relationship between INDY NXT and INDYCAR?
INDY NXT by Firestone is the developmental series of INDYCAR. It is the last step before INDYCAR, so it is seen as a series that prepares drivers to compete in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Since its creation in 1986, many of INDYCAR's biggest names such as Scott Dixon, Josef Newgarden and Pato O'ward, developed in INDY NXT by Firestone.
What are the different types of courses in INDY NXT?
There are three types of circuits in INDY NXT. They are the street course, road course and oval.
The Java House Grand Prix of Arlington is a street course.
How does qualifying work on a Street Course?
Street course qualifying is "European-Style" qualifying where the cars perform timed laps to see which driver is the quickest.

There are 8 full time teams in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. They are A.J. Foyt Racing, Abel Motorsports, Andretti Global, Cape Motorsports Powered by ECR, Chip Ganassi Racing, Cusick Morgan Motorsports, HMD Motorsports and Juncos Hollinger.
Who are the drivers in INDY NXT?
In INDY NXT by Firestone, there are 24 full time drivers. The drivers come from all over the world to compete in the developmental open-wheel racing series in North America. Catch them at the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington.
What is the difference in tire types?
In INDY NXT by Firestone the tires are provided by Firestone.
INDY NXT utilizes only one tire type, unlike the NTT INDYCAR SERIES which uses a primary and alternate tire during races.
What is a chassis?
The central body of the car, including the driver’s compartment. Also referred to as the “tub.”
Who makes the engines?
INDY NXT by Firestone has one engine manufacturer. The engines are made by Mazda. This is unlike the NTT INDYCAR SERIES that has two engines made by Chevrolet and Honda.
